Renishaw

Commercial Property, image of the exterior.

Devin Drive facility is a commercial project.

Renishaw is an International Industry leader in the field of calibration equipment and precision measurement devices. Working with the team at Renishaw for +-2 years in design, before breaking ground, meant the 50,000 s/f facility would be nothing short of perfection when completed.

With a 2-year design calendar and a 14-month build timeline, this brightly packaged office/manufacturing project checked all the boxes and gave the Client flexibility for future expansion, with a detail-oriented build.  Corporate Orange “DuctSox” ductwork distributed conditioned air to the manufacturing space, while more traditional ducted RTUs handled the Office spaces.

Air curtains provided dust protection to sensitive operations and equipment, while the Marketing department took advantage of the video wall in the Foyer, to showcase Corporate products and facilities around the globe.  Attention to detail was the watchword of this project, and resulted in a US facility worthy of the Renishaw brand.

The mission was to create a facility with an eye to expansion.  Placement on the selected property would allow for an additional 50,000 s/f of growth, so all sitework, storm water management, access, and infrastructure had to be considered for the construction of the initial 50,000 s/f.

Partnering with Ian Oliver, a 32 year veteran of Renishaw, Ian knew the corporate culture, and the needs of those working in the facility better than anyone.  Together we worked through all the details, including very precise MEP requirements, all the way through final placement of Office furniture.

Forethought into furniture placement, in partnership with a high-end provider partner, we were able to place all electrical and communication boxes precisely in the slab, and eliminate power poles and cable drops, often required, when such items are not included in the up-front planning process.

All decks are finished in “spiced rum” trex decking with concealed fasteners, making maintenance a breeze.  White Oak flooring throughout the home, along with tiled bath floors and showers, means zero carpet to maintain, and easy cleaning of hard surfaces reduces work and increases time spent enjoying the outdoors.

With facilities around the world, Renishaw has a standard that includes numerous details, colors, etc. that identify its brand, and delivers a cohesive function across all facilities.  From truck dock specs, ITAR spaces, secure networks, locker room details, Reception and Conference spaces with ample light and elegance, this was no “basic box”.

With a “cafeteria” that rivaled most common Breakrooms, the team made sure to incorporate a patio space for fair-weather dining, as well as expansive storefront glass to light spaces naturally, and reduce fatigue, while enhancing workplace productivity.

“The confidence you gave us that we could work effortlessly together to achieve a great building. The quality of the execution has met our expectations and I thank you for your commitment and support in achieving it.”

Ian Oliver, UK
