Elmore Mountain Rd

This project was a perfect study in what we do best. We were introduced to the Client while they were first beginning their search for property, and followed their search, which led them to a spectacular 15 acres with +180 degree views of the mountains, with Mt. Mansfield as the centerpiece.
Once the site was selected, we pulled in Brown & Davis Design to once again deliver a high-functioning, energy-centric home that perfectly fits the site and the overall vision the Client had for their home on Elmore Mountain.
Completed in 12 months, the team fought one of the wettest summers on record, to maintain pace, and hit the target of a May completion, just in time for Bob’s 70th Birthday!
There’s so much attention to detail in the materials selection of this home, it’s a testament to the focus on meeting the stated objective of creating a Legacy home, built of “Honest materials”.
From the start, this home was to be a Legacy project that would intentionally meet the test of time and be passed down from generation to generation. “Honest materials” was the vision Bob & Rhonda expressed, and the home carries that through from the Sugi ban siding, to the expansive natural Bluestone patios, to wide White Oak flooring and more.
Roughly 3,800 s/f of finished space, floor to ceiling windows, an IPE and Timber screened porch, with commanding views of the mountains, and a central staircase, that was specifically oriented to frame the view of Mt. Mansfield, through the 12’ tall triple pane window, that aligns the 8’ tall front entry door with the view from the moment you enter the home.
With many energy-efficient products used, the home sits on 15” of Glavel, a recycled glass product, made locally, that provides an R-20 sub-slab insulation, and the walls are insulated with dense pack Timber HP, a recycled wood product, manufactured in Maine. The home stays cozy to negative temps, regardless of the wind.
"Mark and his crew built our dream vacation/retirement home. Mark takes pride in his work and that shows in the quality of his craft. We wanted to build a home that our grandkids could enjoy in years to come, and we feel that we have accomplished that."
